Recital is such an exciting time for us and our dancers! With everyone’s cooperation, the recital will be a fun, memorable experience for all! Please try to joyfully comply with our guidelines so that we might all have treasured moments of recital.

 

Day of Recital: All dancers must be at Rudder 2 hours prior to showtime. Each class will be given instructions and approximate times for when to to rehearse on stage prior to showtime (dress rehearsal). Dancers need to line up in the backstage hall 5 dances before their dance. Dancers may watch in the auditorium until then. Please wear a cover up while in auditorium. After your child performs, they will be escorted back to their assigned dressing room with a stage runner.

Please note: Enter and exit the auditorium between dances so you are not a distraction to performers on stage or disrespectful to other parents/audience members watching.

Finale: The finale is the last presentation of all the dancers. At this time, all dancers will be awarded their end of year medal and take a final bow together. This is an important part of their big day so you don’t want to miss it. After the finale is also a great time for parents to present their dancers with flowers or a special gift. This is a great photo opportunity as well. Instructions for Finale: After the last performance, dancers are to line up in a line in the backstage hall. Dancers will be lead on stage, awarded their medal, and remain on stage until all have received medals. We will all then take a final bow. After the show, please be sure to gather your belongings quickly and exit the auditorium.

 

Costumes: A spreadsheet of costumes, tights, accessories, shoes, & hair will be handed out at the last visitation of the year. Be sure to label all costumes, tights, extra pieces, & shoes with student’s name. Hang all costumes on hangers so that they aren’t wrinkled. Panties should not be worn under tights with your costumes. Be sure that all extra pieces are secured to costume by pinning or sewing, including tutus, ribbons, bows, and/or flowers. Shoe laces should be double knotted. A cover-up should be worn at all times. There is absolutely no eating or drinking (other than water) with a costume on.

Make-up:

• Base
• Blush: A bright blush should be used in order for it to show up. Apply it below cheek bone, carrying up to temples.
• Lips: A deep red or bright pink lipstick (classes coordinate to match costumes)
• Eyes: Eye Shadow: Colors: Purple, Blue, and Gray colors. A primer or crème shadow should be used first so that the colors stick and are bright Eyeliner: Color: Black- apply to top and bottom. Mascara: Color: Black

Hair: See costume spreadsheet for specific dance hairstyle. Spray fly-aways with hairspray. Do not use color ponytail holders. Please use a clear or natural hair color.

 

Checklist: Costumes, tights, dance shoes, make-up, hair bands, bobby pins, hair pins, hairspray, safety pins, brush/comb, wipes, needle/ thread, double sided tape

 

Important things to note:

No Food or Drink allowed in the Auditorium. Please abide by their rules. No running or playing around in the auditorium.

No glitter (Auditorium rules)

No stickers, fake tattoos, etc. on the body where visible

No nail polish

No jewelry. Rhinestone stud earrings are to be worn. You may also glue rhinestones to ears with eyelash glue for non-pierced ears.

Admission is FREE to recital so feel free to invite relatives and friends. Enclosed in your packet are a few invitations to hand out. You may also invite friends & family via our Facebook event posted on MCM Dance Studio’s page.

No Video Taping or Flash Photography at recital. The recital will be professionally videotaped. You can order your videos ahead of time at the studio.
